Steps to beginning a collegiate level chapter of the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE): 

Step 1: Contact Clinton Gill

  • Reach out to Clinton Gill to see if your campus already has a TSTA AE chapter. If not, he can help you start one and guide you through any required campus approval processes.

Step 2: Submit Your Chapter Information

  • After your chapter is approved, send the following to Clinton:
    • A list of chapter officers and their contact information (officers must be current TSTA AE members).
    • Names and contact information for chapter advisor(s).
    • A copy of your chapter constitution and bylaws.

Step 3: Join TSTA/NEA Aspiring Educators

  • Chapter members should join TSTA/NEA Aspiring Educators by paying the national membership dues.
  • Membership Benefit:
    • The first 1,000 TSTA AE members who join each year beginning September 1 receive a free national membership, courtesy of TSTA. There are no state dues.

Step 4: Plan Your Chapter Activities

  • Create a calendar of meetings, events, and activities for the year and share it with Clinton Gill.

Step 5: Complete the New Campus Membership Form

  • Your Chapter Advisor must:

Step 6: Pay State TAFE Chapter Dues ($95)

  • Once your New Campus Membership Form has been submitted, you will receive an invoice for your TAFE state chapter dues.

Step 7: Make Sure TSTA/NEA Aspiring Educators dues are paid prior to participating in your area conference.

Step 8: Activate Your Free Educators Rising Collegiate Membership

  • After joining TSTA/NEA, members will receive an email within 10–15 business days containing a special promotional code.
  • Use this code to register for Educators Rising Collegiate at no additional cost, giving you access to the benefits and resources of both organizations for one membership fee. Detailed instructions will be included in the email.
