Scholarships for TAFE MembersDr. Pat McLeod Award: sponsored by Career & Technical Association of Texas (CTAT) is a $1,000 scholarship for a TAFE member. Application! Available for Seniors only. The Career & Technical Association of Texas is a 501(c)6 not-for-profit member based organization committed to providing professional development opportunities and resources to its members and the CTE community; to increasing public awareness and appreciation for career and technical programs; and communicating and working with legislators and policy leaders to increase funding and impact positive change in public policy. Complete the application and submit it with all the necessary documentation. Application must be postmarked or faxed by January 16, 2019. It's Your Spice Fundraising One $500 scholarship will be provided annually to a graduating senior. The scholarship is open to all students enrolled in TAFE. However, additional points will be added to the applicant's score based on their participation in the It's Your Spice fundraiser. The application will include transcripts, reference letters, and an essay, along with the completed application. Application must be postmarked or faxed by January 16, 2019. Application! High school students who have participated in the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) or Ready, Set, Teach are eligible to apply for this $1,000 scholarship (dependent upon ability of funds). The Charles Butt Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers is designed to encourage the best and brightest students to enter the teaching profession. Scholars receive up to $8,000 in annual funding for up to four years, as well as ongoing professional development opportunities, mentorship from sitting public school educators, and participation in a statewide aspiring teachers network facilitated by the Raise Your Hand Texas Foundation.
Applicants must be planning to teach in a Texas public school in a shortage subject area (math, science, bilingual, and/or special education) or in a Texas public school that serves a student population that is majority-economically disadvantaged.
Approximately 100 new scholarships are awarded through teacher preparation programs at 10 partner universities each year. The competitive selection process includes an application, pre-screening by university teams, and a daylong event consisting of a group activity, mock teaching lesson, and panel interview.
The deadlines for the 2019-2020 scholarship application are different for each partner university and range from December 2018 through February 2019. For more information, visit RaisingTexasTeachers.org.
Gay Nell McGinnis ScholarshipIn 2013, FCSTAT established the Gay Nell McGinnis Scholarship in honor of the former State Director of Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Texas Education Agency. The scholarship was initiated to provide funds for members of FCCLA and/or TAFE, who have declared a major in the field of Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Applicants must be nominated by a current FCSTAT member. Deadline for application is a postmark of March 1. APPLICATION Elon University:TheTeaching Fellows Program is a four-year sequenced, developmental and transformational $28,500 scholarship opportunity for the preparation of teachers who will become leaders in the field. After applying to Elon, students may apply to the Fellows Programs until the deadline of January 10. Midwestern State University:The West College of Education provides a variety of Undergraduate and Graduate scholarship opportunities for students wishing to pursue a degree with the West College of Education.
